Your Excellency,

Re: MAKING THE HONOURABLE MARCUS GARVEY'S BIRTHDAY AN INTERNATIONAL AFRICAN HOLIDAY and THE AFRICAN PASSPORT.

We have attatched the resolutions (UKPACRes.htm) adopted by the United Kingdom Pan African Congress which was held from 15th to 17th August 1998, in celebration of the 111th Birthday of The Honourable Marcus Mosiah Garvey, the African Redeemer. In particular, we draw your attention to the resolutions on making Marcus Garvey's birthday a National Holiday in your country, and on the AFRICAN PASSPORT.

'I'he Congress called on African and Caribbean Governments to make The Honourable MARCUS MOSIAH GARVEY'S BIRTHDAY A NATIONAL HOLIDAY on the 17th day of August every year in recognition of the monumental contribution that
Marcus Garvey has made towards African Unity and Liberation.

Secondly, the Congress called on African Governments to take positive steps towards the creation of THE AFRICAN PASSPORT so that African people, whether they are born on the Continent or in the Diaspora, can travel freely throughout the length and breadth of the African Continent with the right to live, work and die anywhere in Africa that they choose.

We are requesting that you bring this letter and the resolutions to the government of your country and to all the political parties as well.

We are also requesting a meeting with you to discuss the resolutions further and the build up to the GLOBAL PAN AFRICAN CONGRESS to be held in September 2,000, on the one hundredth anniversary of the first PAC organised by Trinidad born Henry Sylvester Williams, the first Black man to practice as a Lawyer in South Africa, at Westminster Town Hall, London, in September 1900.

I have the Honour to be,
Lester Lewis (Prince Ntum ba Azah)
Convenor, United Kingdom Pan African Congress &
UKPAC delegate to the International Organising Committee, GPAC 2000.
