The Fertility War
(Not published. Contract broken after Aquarian Age article. 10 Feb. '96) #13

Of the many issues covered in the recent strategy conference on Global Africa's role in the Aquarian Age, the two which generated the most controversy and emotional debate were the questions of: a)leadership, which will be discussed in this column in coming weeks, and b) population control, the deliberate, methodical and highly profitable genocidal depopulation of Global Africa (Continental and Diasporan Black people) over the past 1000 plus years.

Repopulation was suggested as a solution to the problem of depopulation but, predictably, after many decades of intensive anti-African "population explosion" propaganda, "Black criminality" blamed on "overcrowding", "irresponsible, absent fathers" and too many abused and victimized "single mothers", it was not readily accepted. Healthy debate ensued.

The majority of those present came to accept the necessity to increase the Global African population while at the same time improving the quality of life of those already born. One difficulty we encountered was whether "babies making babies" was a bad thing or whether it was our attitudes to the "problem" which was bad. It was strongly argued that if we had a deeper appreciation of self and community, every new African child, regardless of the age, income or disposition of its parents, would be welcome by the whole community as an invaluably precious gift, never a problem.

Such was the case when we had no words in our languages for orphan and there were no "childless" people. Today, we have "orphans" whose parents and other relatives are very much alive and childless men and women who have no desire to adopt an African child. The importance of the subject of population was brought home to us when it was disclosed, within two days of the conference, that an African woman in London was denied in vitro fertilization because the clinic had no African sperm.

Kings College hospital was right not to give the woman a European (white) man's sperm, even though she was willing to accept "anything". Those who accuse the hospital of racism for that particular action are merely mindlessly assuming the knee-jerk "anti-racist" stance. Racists, they [the hospital] most certainly may be anyway, but the fundamental point is lost in that accusation.

The question is not why did they refuse her, it is rather, why was there no African sperm in any clinic anywhere in the country? Kings College have admitted that they have five African women waiting for egg donation but with no African egg donors on their register and as far as they know, there are none registered in other clinics around the country. According to the British Medical Association in London and the Union of Hospital Workers International in Philadelphia, there are no African owned or controlled fertility clinics in the U.K. or in the U.S.A. [is this true?] and the existing European controlled ones rarely have African donations.

With no African donated sperm or egg available, where does the U.K. hospitals' general rulings against cross-racial fertilization leave the African man or woman who wants to add to our depleted nation? The answer is clear, without provision. And this exclusion is only a small part of the double-edged sword of population control and fertility programmes which, at the same time accelerates the depopulation of Global Africa and assists the population expansion of Global Europe.

Is it true what they say, that African people do not want to donate our eggs and sperm? or is it that we are being deliberately discouraged or refused, as I have been when I tried to donate blood just a few years ago? Or is it more in the vein of what happened to the African Falasha Jews kidnapped by Israelis where, instead of being stored for use, their donated blood is still being dumped in the sewers?

Amazing though, how we happen to be the majority of "voluntary" recipients when it comes to dangerous, depopulation products such as DepoProvera and Norplant and again the 'guinea pigs' in lethal disease experiments such as syphilis research.

If it is true that we are not volunteering our semen and ovum, it is perfectly understandable that we will be reluctant to give our genes to people who have been trying to wipe us out by any and every devious means for such a long time. But we cannot dismiss fertility programmes as a "white man's obsession" in the face of systematic genocidal campaigns against us.

In parts of Africa up to a third of all the women have been made infertile. We have the power and we must use the power to take constructive action against the destructive effects of a Global European environment on our fertility and reproductive systems. Such decisive action starts with a change of attitude to self and community.
