What is materialist thought? Materialist thought is a mental construct of artificial standards and criteria which is used to measure the worth of Afrikans. For example, a common saying concerning Afrikans is that "clothes make the man." Using this rationale, people judge the character of Afrikans by the manner in which they are dressed. Many Afrikans practice and are trapped in the perils of materialist thought.
Actually there is not much thinking in materialist thought. In fact, materialist thought is a shortcut to thinking. It is used to decrease the amount of time spent examining the spiritual essence of one's neighbors. Instead, all that is done in materialist thought is that a quick assessment or estimate of an Afrikan's "value" is made based upon the material things surrounding that person. Such externalities may be used to apply positive or negative attributes to someone. However, because there is not a concrete connection between the externalities and the spiritual essence, the externalities used as criteria are artificial - they do not actually represent or indicate anything. Materialist thought has not worked to solve the "liberation question" of Afrikan people. However, many Afrikans continue to follow "whites" into the depths of materialist ideology. Afrikan women are not judged for their spirituality, but instead by the shape of their buttocks. A shape of a woman's hips has nothing to do with how good a mother and/or wife she will be. Afrikan men are not judged by their intellect, but instead by what model car they drive or how much gold jewelry they wear. A man's jewelry and automobile say nothing about whether he will properly take care of his children and his family.
Materialist thought, while being prevalent in the Afrikan community, is not a product of the community. White world supremacy is the primary perpetrator of materialist thought. A wealthy "white" man is the highest point on the materialist value scale in the white world supremacy ideological system and this is the real danger. The White supremacy/materialist thought doctrine says that anything Afrikan is automatically inferior to anything European. So, Afrikans will steer their children away from Africentric education structures, falsely believing that they are inferior to "white" institutions. Many Afrikans view success as being able to move away from their communities into a "white" neighborhood. However, the artificial "White" label on a community has no influence on one's quality of life. Many claim that Afrikans have progressed and point to the many Black elected officials across the world as evidence of this. However, most of these politicians have no real interest in serving Afrikans. Most of them have been "bought" by "white" interest groups.
Afrikans must free themselves from materialist thought and begin to rationally analyze people and situations. Television has been used as a primary vehicle in keeping Afrikans hooked on materialist ideology. It is time to turn off the televisions and head for the libraries. The time has come to separate Afrikan reasoning from White world supremacy and its inaccurate methods for evaluating individuals and institutions. As the saying goes "All that glitters is not gold."
There must be a conscious effort to teach Afrikans the correct way to measure spiritual character. Materialist thought and action is leading many brothers and sisters to the poorhouse and the prison. Materialist thought and those practicing it must be purged from the ranks of from the Afrikan community as soon as possible lest Afrikans continue to be led astray into a "hell" of phoney principles and artificial standards.
