Thanks and praises to all of you for coming out. Obviously there are quite a few people who believe that silence is connivance. Thanks to Brother Lester Lewis and Hackney Black People's Association for allowing us to meet here today and most importantly, thanks to our Ancestors for making it all possible.

Before we go any further there are a couple of things I would like you to know. There is a war going on. There is a war going on and you are part of it. In fact you are on the front line of this war which has been raging now for over two thousand years. I am specifically referring to the Great African - European War.

Secondly, I didn't come here today to try to make any friends - nor am I looking for any enemies. Enemies are not good for me. I am not asking any one to agree with me or to believe in me. All I ask is that we listen to each other with open minds and we question everything each and every one of us says. So when I say there is a war going on and you are in the middle of it, don't just accept it as gospel because Spartacus says so, or reject it as crazy foolishness because Spartacus said it. Question it. Question everything. Ask yourself: "Does it make sense?". Ask yourself "Why?" and answer honestly. That is all I ask of you.

At the end of the questioning, you may find yourself agreeing or disagreeing with some or all of what I say. Whatever the outcome, I can guarantee you, you will not believe in Spartacus. You will believe in yourself, in your own truth because you would have taken the information I present to you, turned it upside down, inside out, torn it apart and made whatever truth you found in it your own.

In order for it to have worked as well as it did COINTELPRO required the secret co-operative involvement of all intelligence agencies, including the FBI, the CIA and military intelligence, the department of Defence, the White House, municipal government agencies and local and state police forces, who set up special "Red Squads" as part of the COINTELPRO support mechanism.

It was formally named and instituted in 1956 against the Communist Party, then expanded to include other "White left" organisations. It was further expanded to include "White hate groups" as a cover for funding, facilitating, arming, training and involvement in unofficial state-sponsored right wing terrorist organisations such as the notorious Ku Klux Klan (KKK). At one point in their relationship, a quarter of all these KKK murderers who terrorised the African community were active FBI Agents.

COINTELPRO was supposed to have been terminated in 1971 in the wake of international controversy, when a small but significant number of its secret files were passed to the media. The name COINTELPRO is no longer used but far from being terminated this domestic counterinsurgency war machine has been upgraded, expanded and exported around the world under the direct control of the CIA (see email).

Significantly, it was not until 1967 that the FBI officially started their secret COINTELPRO under the heading: "Black Nationalist Hate Groups". They made no distinctions. Any African group who did or said anything on behalf of the African community was a Black Nationalist Hate Group.

The war against Global Africa is an old ongoing war. They must have felt that the necessary machinery was already in place to satisfactorily contain this African/European war on an ongoing basis. Until they realised the seriousness of the situation they were in with the emergence of so many militant African (Black) organisations. They admit to having launched 295 operations against the African Community during that 4 year period, 233 of which targeted the Black Panther Party. Of course there were many operations which had failed so dismally or had been so vile that even they could not put on record. The stated purpose of COINTELPRO was to:

expose, disrupt, misdirect, discredit, or otherwise neutralize the activities of black nationalist, hate-type organisations and groupings, their leadership, spokesmen, membership, and supporters, and to counter their propensity for violence and civil disorder.

1) Prevent the coalition of militant black nationalist groups. In unity there is strength; a truism that is no less valid for all its triteness. An effective coalition of black nationalist groups might be the first step toward a real "Mau Mau" in America, the beginning of a true black revolution.

2) Prevent the rise of a "messiah" who could unify, and electrify, the militant black nationalist movement. Malcolm X might have been such a "Messiah;" he is the martyr of the movement today. Martin Luther King, Stokely Carmichael and Elijah Muhammad all aspire to this position. Elijah Muhammad is less of a threat because of his age. King could be a very real contender for this position should he abandon his supposed "obedience" to "white, liberal doctrines" (nonviolence) and embrace black nationalism. Carmichael has the necessary charisma to be a real threat in this way.

3) Prevent Violence on the part of black nationalist groups. This is of primary importance, and is, of course, a goal of our investigative activity; it should also be a goal of the Counterintelligence Program. Through counterintelligence it should be possible to pinpoint potential troublemakers and neutralize them before they exercise their potential for violence.

4) Prevent Militant black nationalist groups and leaders gaining respectability, by discrediting them to three separate segments of the community. The goal of discrediting black nationalists must be handled tactically in three ways. You must discredit these groups and individuals to, first, the responsible Negro community. Second, they must be discredited to the white community, both the responsible community and the "liberals" who have vestiges of sympathy for militant black nationalist simply because they are Negroes. Third, these groups must be discredited in the eyes of Negro radicals, the followers of the movement. This last area requires entirely different tactics from the first two. Publicity about violent tendencies and radical statements merely enhances black nationalists to the last group; it adds "respectability" in a different way.

5) A final goal should be to prevent the long-range growth of militant black nationalist organizations, especially among youth. Specific tactics to prevent these groups from converting young people must be developed.

As the head of the largest organisation in the world, comprising at one time over six million members in nine hundred chapters world wide, Garvey was recognised as Global Europe's enemy number one. They had an instinctive, negative response to him and his teachings.

What happened to Garvey when the military and political might of every country in the world under European control was mobilised against him and what happened in the sixties under the heading of COINTELPRO is the same as what is happening today. The only difference is the name and the degree of sophistication.

If you were the CIA and you had to put a name to overt co-ordinated actions against the Global African community today but give the impression that you are trying to help us, you would probably call it "The War on Drugs" or "The War on Crime" or "The War Against Terrorism".

If you are particularly aware of domestic sensitivity to the word "WAR" and the possibility of it backfiring on you, you would call the programme "Weed and Seed". Weed and Seed is the new name for a series of campaigns taking root in the USA where a whole community is promised a bribe of massive amounts of development money (most of which never materialises) in exchange for their active co-operation or silent connivance in neutralising its youth, the most active, creative, vibrant and volatile sector of the community.

Banning Orders

a) Infiltrators and Agent Provocateurs
Virtually every African organisation had been effectively infiltrated by the FBI and other secret service agencies. You remember Gene Roberts, the "bodyguard" who was photographed suffocating Malcolm X after he was shot? Deep cover agent. He later infiltrated the Panthers and was not exposed until 1971 when he appeared as state witness in a trial of thirteen Panthers charged with conspiracy to blow up buildings.

The FBI alone had over 4000 Africans on their payroll within the first year of official COINTELPRO. That doesn't say much about us, but I still have faith.

Because of their lack of success in penetrating the UK African community and as a result of being exposed too often when using untrained informers against us, the British secret service and the police have been openly advertising for and promoting the idea of, new recruits from the African community. The degree to which they succeed will become apparent in the next five or so years after they have trained and unleashed their deadly poison in our midst.

b) Informers
Informers with their brand of nastiness has been with us for as long as there have been opposing forces in this world. Judas, from the biblical tale of Jesus, could quite easily be a modern day informant.

Even before they instituted COINTELPRO, the FBI had thousands of informants. Under one project alone, the Ghetto Informant Program, they netted 3,248 traitors from the African community in one year.

James A. Harrison, a close aid of Martin Luther King and a top official of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) organisation, was a valued FBI informant.

Julius Butler, still alive, well and a successful church leader, was the paid/white-mailed informant whose false testimony helped frame Geronimo Pratt for a murder the FBI knew he could not have committed.

During my trial for handling stolen goods, it was revealed by the police under cross examination that a paid police informant was used to sell me stolen goods in October 1992 as part of an elaborate conspiracy to wreck my computer sales business, lock me up and throw away the key (see GAP News #4). One of the key factors in this conspiracy was a house Negro by the name of Len Woodley, QC, who was supposed to earn his masters' favour as my judge, jury and executioner.

c) Media Manipulation and Character Assassination
The media is one of the most effective weapons used against the community. is. It is also one of the most important tools available to the activist, especially the independent print and radio sector.

COINTELPRO operatives were instructed that every effort must be made to deny African (Black) activists access to the media. Should the genius of the activist be employed to circumvent the exclusion process by self-publishing and independent direct action such as local community meetings, the agent is told what to do next.

"Where ever this is done it should be counteracted but must be done in a medium which reaches the entire Negro population. There are papers and magazines which should be used if they will accept this material. If they do not, radio and especially TV should be utilised."

d) Physical Assassination (Covert and Overt).
The physical assassination of African freedom fighters has always been a key factor in the relationship between Global Europe and Global Africa. Tousant-L'overture - Nat Turner - Malcolm X - Martin Luther King - Shaka - Fred Hampton - Mark Clark - Mourice Bishop - Nzingha - Cudjo - Chris Hani - Tongagara - Steve Biko - Yaa Asante Wa, etc. - police executions of scores of Panthers, some in their beds. Global Europe has been sending the same message to the Global African youth for hundreds of years. The message was spelled out by the FBI again in 1968 when they said:

"The Negro wants and needs something to be proud of. The Negro youth and moderate must be made to understand that if they succumb to revolutionary teachings they would be dead revolutionaries. It is now better to be a sports hero, a well paid professional athlete or entertainer, a regularly paid white or blue collar worker, a peaceful human being with a family or a person who at least had been accepted than a Negro who had gotten even with the establishment by burning it down but who along with this, burned down his own home and gained for him and all his people the hatred and distrust of whites for years to come..."

Twice Lambeth police and local politicians offered rewards to other people in the community to evict me and my group from buildings which we had occupied. In both cases my life was threatened. In one take-over bid, when Linda Bellos was coulcil leader, I was severely beaten (see photo) by three thugs representing the Yours Truly nursery group belonging to a couple of women called Joan Cutino and Patricia Cotterel and inspired by a dubious individual called Pat Adams, who later got a job with the council that she was not qualified for. They were told by the council, if they could get Spartacus out, they could have the building. And of course the fools believed it.

I wrote at the time:

We had the state employed agent provocateur manipulating and directing the destructive energies of the greedy, the incompetent, the begrudging, the ignorant, the megalomanic and the envious and the political fanatic imbued with organisational chauvinism. (see "The Human Value")

Judicial entanglement as a part of the process of destroying an organisation or an individual reached new levels of ingenuity under COINTELPRO. Agents were told to arrest the targeted individual or key members of the targeted organisation on any and as many Spurious Charges as possible regardless whether they had any grounds or evidence for doing so. The result was thousands of Frame-ups with some of the victims such as Mumia Abu-Jamal, still languishing in jail; Multiple Bail Applications, until the organisation or the individual could no longer afford to post the bail; Spiralling Defence Costs and the diversion of vital human and material resources away from the important work of the movement.

Over the past couple of decades I have been arrested in the UK at least thirty times. I have been charged and prosecuted no less than thirteen times including two trials for the "stolen goods" frame-up which cost me thousands of pounds and diverted my attention and other resources.

At the height of this harassment I was stopped and questioned three times in the same night in a single journey from north west London to south London, delaying my journey by one and a half hours.

f) Internecine Conflicts (Inter-group and Interpersonal)
If someone wants to cause conflict between any two or more people who are not aware of the intent, the odds are that they will succeed. Such was the case with the Black Power Movement, the Civil Rights Movement and every other movement of people against whom the US government have launched covert operations.

One of the people caught in the middle of the internal war within the Black Panther Party was Kathleen Cleaver, the wife of Eldridge and Minister of Information. She Said:

They [the media] made it look as if these things just happened by accident, there was no connection between the plan of the FBI and the fact that so many of them [Panther Soldiers] were arrested, ... so many marriages broke up. However, when these things happen to you, you know it is no accident. We knew at the time that there was a conspiracy ... we just had no idea how sophisticated the co-ordination was. We didn't know it was called COINTELPRO and involved the FBI, CIA, Dept of Defence, White House ...

It was during the mediation process that the details of a suspected conspiracy came to light. It became clear to me that Brother Deng was being "advised" by people within the University of East London, where he works and others closer to him. I came to the conclusion that these people are either agents themselves doing a job or unsuspecting tools of very clever agents.

g) Grassroots Gossip
This includes unsubstantiable misinformation, disinformation and outright lies on issues which the community is already emotionally charged about, for example: skimming off organisation money, paid informers, homosexuality, child sexual abuse, etc. etc. They state:

The purpose of counterintelligence action is to disrupt BPP [the Black Panther Party] and it is immaterial whether facts exist to substantiate the charge. If facts are present, it aids in the success of the proposal but the Bureau feels that disruption can be accomplished without facts to back it up.

... consideration be given to convey the impression that CARMICHAEL is a CIA informer. ... it will help promote distrust between CARMICHAEL and the Black Community... It is also suggested that we inform a certain percentage of reliable criminal and racial informants that "we have it from reliable sources that CARMICHAEL is a CIA agent." It is hoped that the informants would spread the rumour in various large Negro communities across the land.

h) Exclusions (Gate Keeping)
The revolutionary African activist is an outcast by the very nature of her or his circumstance. We live within a hostile environment and an alien culture which seeks to demonise us in the eyes of our own people. What is worse is when people in our own community see themselves as gatekeepers, to prevent us from interacting with and informing our community.

Though a few of these Brothers and Sisters are most definitely agents or informers, the majority are not. They are mainly misguided, misinformed, greedy individuals who see more value in the European way of being than the African way. These individuals, because of their position in the society or their ambitions, may feel threatened that the mere presence of the revolutionary activist could expose their duplicitous character and reactionary behaviour.

This is why members of the National Association for the Advancement of Coloured People (NAACP) and other "establishment Negroes" started a "Garvey Must Go" campaign and wrote letters to the US Attorney General begging him to deport Garvey more urgently.

This is why Malcolm X was silenced by Elijah Muhammad. Why the "house Negroes" as he called them, shunned him and tried so hard to silence him.

This is why Koro Salah, Kwame Ture and Louis Farrakhan are still banned from the UK.

This is why people like Bernie Grant, Diane Abbot, Trevor Phillips, Darcus Howe, Lee Jasper of the well-funded 1990 Trust, Adotey Bing of the Africa Centre and others, stipulate that Spartacus R. should be excluded from certain events and gatherings.

This is why in 1989, when Nilou Hawthorne and I started the People's Movement for Electoral Justice, to elect the first independent African Member of Parliament, Lee Jasper and David Muir (at the time a fully paid up member of the Labour party) joined the campaign as wrecking agents. They succeeded in having both myself and Nilou, whose money was invested in the venture, sacked from the campaign and it immediately ground to a halt.

This is why when after only a few weeks on Genesis radio, with my GLOBAL-EYES talk show, I was one of the most popular presenters on the station I was sacked by the manager, a guy called Coolie without any reasons given except that it was "personal".

i) Perception Management
This was developed as a separately funded programme by the Joint Chiefs of Staff under the blind African General, Colin Powel in 1987. Their definition of the concept, according to Jamaal Goree, is to "control what we believe is true. Not necessarily what is true but what we believe is true because, based on how you perceive what is true, [they] will also dictate how you behave or how you act." But, as the evidence shows Perception Management has been with us for a long, long time. Even before Michelangelo painted God, Christ and all their Angels as Europeans.

Perception management was the reasoning behind the FBI version of the Black Panther Colouring Book.

j) Mail Manipulation
This includes interception of mail and the recording of their contents, rewriting of letters and sending them off to the intended recipient, diversion of mail to unintended recipients, the creation of documents and letters purporting to be from particular sources which they are not, the deliberate withholding and delaying of crucial time-sensitive letters and destruction of letters which never reach their destination.

k) Elsurs
(Phone Taps and other Electronic Surveillance Devices)

l) Searches
(Spontaneous, unannounced and causing maximum disruption and destruction to property and personnel)

m) Break-ins
(to plant equipment or incriminating evidence or to steal important documents or equipment necessary for the running of the organisation)

n) Terrorism

o) Banning Orders and House Arrest (Isolation)
Banning orders have the effect of isolating the banned person from the community which, it is feared, they would have a positive effect on. Any African person, such as Winnie Mandela, who is seen to be capable of influencing the community to act against the interests of those in control, have to be removed from, prevented from entering or restricted to one small area of the community. With the advent of electronic tagging it is now even easier and cheaper to control the movement of individuals.

Marcus Garvey was probably the most banned person in the history of international travel. He was banned from every part of Africa.

At one time Kwame Ture was banned from over 35 countries, including Trinidad, his place of birth, and the UK where he is still banned and holds the distinction of being probably the only person ever to have been banned twice.

Some Panthers were banned from their own neighbourhoods where the rest of their families lived.

In the UK, during my highly successful Positive Boycott Campaigns against the sale of South African goods, as part of my bail condition I was banned from going to within 100 yards of the centre of Brixton where I live and normally did my shopping. This is without having been convicted of any crime.

Ambition (for political, social or professional status),

Chauvinism (religious, political, organisational, where siding with the enemy is supposed to bring benefits to the group which consequently, shows it to be better than its competitors)

Ego (bruised by the person or organisation being betrayed but amply fed by sycophants and enemy media flattery),

Envy (of the person or organisation being betrayed),

Europeanisation, (or Arabisation, where the traitor identifies with the enemy),

Fear (of threatened consequence, of whitemail, of failure, of loss, of injury, etc.),

Greed for material gain (just a job),

Greed for power (over section of your community on behalf of the enemy),

Jealousy (of the person or organisation being betrayed),

Lack of education (couldn't know better),

Miseducation (again, couldn't know better)

Poverty (what else could he/she do?),

Promises, (usually broken, followed by whitemail trap),

Revenge (for perceived or actual wrongdoing by betrayed person or organisation),

Self-hatred (usually coupled with seeing the enemy as god).

Of course, there are some who know exactly what they are doing and choose consciously to side with the enemy for individual short term gain. But, at the bottom line, even they are acting out of ignorance.

Why do I say that? Well, we know from our great Ancestors that knowledge of self is the key to life. And they were not talking about just the individual as self, they were referring to those whom we as individuals are part of and belong to. They were saying then - I am saying now - if you know the truth about yourself, your history, the reality of your current situation, you will live, if you don't you will die. Because if you have the necessary information, you will always - and I mean always - you will always make the correct decision on behalf of self, in both its broadest and narrowest sense.

Put simply:

Without information, you die. With the wrong information, you kill yourself. With the correct information, you live forever.

Don't get me wrong. I am not saying that ignorance is an excuse. There is never any excuse for betraying yourself because whatever information we have or have not, choose to see or to ignore, we are still responsible for the consequences of our decisions. So, though it is understandable, as the fundamental reason for all treacherous, anti-self behaviour, ignorance is never an acceptable defence.

They are ordinary people who for one reason or another believe or hope that it will be in their interest to sell or give information to the enemy; to sell out or give up a particular individual or group; to work towards the undermining or neutralisation of particular individuals or groups within our communities.

Some of them get no tangible or visible reward for their actions while others may immediately realise a marked change in their fortunes through promotion, more money, better job or by assuming the position previously held by the betrayed person at the head of the organisation or the coveted radio slot of the talk show presenter, etc.

They had learned from the destruction of the UNIA under Garvey how easy it is to destroy such a mammoth global organisation just by removing the head. The idea of calling off an annual convention of a millions strong organisation because one of its members is in prison is, to me, utterly ridiculous. Never the less, it pointed the path the enemy would take to decimate our movement. Remove the leaders. Buy them off; discredit them; lock them up; deport them; isolate them; kill them.

If only we had learnt the lessons of our earlier experiences. We need, as a global community, to re-evaluate the idea of leadership and its relationship to self-determination (see Leadership and Self-Determination 97). Still, it's never too late to learn. We have the power to liberate ourselves. We are the power.

Let's look at these goals:

1) Prevent the coalition of militant black nationalist groups. In unity there is strength; a truism that is no less valid for all its triteness. An effective coalition of black nationalist groups might be the first step toward a real "Mau Mau" in America, the beginning of a true black revolution.

Of course, we can all see, that goal has been achieved. There is no coalition of "militant" groups of any kind within the Global African community. There are hardly any militant groups at all and where there are they are either at war with each other or at best, pretend that each do not exist.

This sorry state of affairs did not come about by accident, nor can it be maintained by accident. The fact that the majority of Africans who are in organisations are there as followers, would have made it relatively easy to separate the groups by dividing the leaders.

2) The aim to "prevent the rise of a 'messiah' who could unify, and electrify, the militantblack nationalist movement" has been the most spectacular in both the completeness of its achievement and the means by which it has so far been achieved. Malcolm was killed by them before they made the statement. King was killed the moment he had second thoughts about non-violence as a solution. Regardless of his age, Elijah Muhammad was eliminated from the equation as he steered the NOI farther away from militancy and African nationalism and closer to the FBI ideal of: "... useful citizens ... emphasizing religion ... and self improvement". Carmichael (Kwame Ture), Cleaver and countless others were neutralised by their exile. Newton, Pratt, Dhoruba and hundreds of others were imprisoned. Fred Hampton, Mark Clark, George Jackson and scores of others were assassinated.

It is being argued by some of his followers that Louis Farrakhan is that "Messiah" the FBI spoke of preventing but the state doesn't think so. Apart from upsetting the Jews, who see his economic programme as a threat to their largest consumer/client base, Brother Farrakhan's conservative, reformist, middle America, religion-based, merchant philosophy is not at all militant and is more Pan-Arabist than Pan-Africanist. Global Europe know very well that there is no likelihood of him unifying and galvanising the militant spirit of the Global African youth into revolutionary action.

I hasten to add that I do believe the "messiah mentality" is a state which can be of no value whatsoever to Global Africa in our quest for self-determination. The day after Farrakhan decides, if ever he does, that he will lead a revolutionary Pan-Africanist movement, he will be killed. We do not need leaders or messiahs. We need revolutionary teachers who will inspire us to build social structures in which every African person is as valuable and important as every other African person; each one of us a vital and interchangeable element in a cohesive whole.

3) The third goal on the list of objectives was to "prevent violence on the part of black nationalist groups." They say it is their most important goal and is "of course" a goal of their normal everyday activity. So how do they set about preventing violence? By promoting and instigating interpersonal violence, factional violence and inter-group violence. They don't mind African people being violent. In fact, they love it - as long as we are pointing the weapons at ourselves. They will even supply the weapons, the motive and the targets. And they will use any amount and any form of violence they see as necessary to achieve their objectives.

The violence they are trying to prevent is the kind which keeps them awake in terror and is one long, horrifying nightmare when they sleep. That is the violence of vengeance and liberation.

So why are they so afraid of African people? It's natural - and inevitable. You don't spend hundreds of years convincing everyone, including yourself, of the bestial and violent nature of the African without developing a genuine, immobilising, mind-numbing fear of that same African. There is nothing more fearful in the psyche of the European than an angry African man - except, perhaps, an angry African woman.

4) Prevent Militant black nationalist groups and leaders gaining respectability, by discrediting them to three separate segments of the community. How many of you can honestly say that they know a militant organisation which advocates violence as a means of resolving our liberation problem and is respected by the African community?

5) prevent the long-range growth of militant black nationalist organizations, especially among youth.

The reason why we can't answer the question at 4) affirmatively today is because this goal (number five) has also been achieved.

Never the less, too many of them turn out to be, and since such covert activities depend for their success on secrecy, exposure is the greatest weapon we have against them. And therein lies our greatest difficulty. How do you expose something that only you or a select few can see or feel?

Geronimo Pratt, who was released after 25 plus years in prison, says he knew it was the FBI setting him up and doing things around him but when he told people what he thought, they looked at him as if he was crazy. Some said he was just ego-tripping.

I have had the same kind of shocked response in some circles. For instance, I was talking to someone about a Sister called Dorothy* who had so successfully undermined the Cultural Awareness Programme (CAP) that she was able to get all the women in the CAP to go off and form their own organisation. It ended exactly two weeks later when she didn't turn up for their second meeting. The person I was talking with said: "No way she could have been an agent. She was insignificant. The first thing we have to do to protect ourselves as a community, is appreciate the fact that most of the best agents are actually quite ordinary and insignificant people. What makes them important is the job they do and the destructive effects they can have on a whole community for generations.

Secondly, any African person who betrays our community can never be "right in the head" The criteria for becoming a traitor to the African community has never been, and will never be, a degree of sanity. I challenge anybody to show me how such a self destructive, short-sighted person can be sane.

Thirdly, we must bear in mind that only a small number of traitors are actually informers or agents. The majority of people who betray our community are ignorant people who see themselves as doing the best they can under the circumstance to survive, get by, get on or get over.

Practical Precautions
Create open truth-based environments. Discuss everything openly with every member of the organisation. Deal with differences and apparent contradictions openly so they can't be capitalised on to cause friction and conflict within the organisation or between organisations. COINTELPROs flourish and cause their greatest destruction in secretive organisations.

Where Noboby knows what Anybody is doing, Anybody can do anything to Everybody and Nobody will know. But where Everybody knows what Everybody is doing, Nobody can do anything to Anybody without Everybody knowing.

Don't be too eager to expose a suspected person as an agent. Instead openly criticise and discuss the person's actions, what they say and do. Negative, destructive behaviour could be due to many things, including incompetence, not just treachery.

Document all inexplicable incidents and those which appear to be covert intervention and report them to the whole group.

Bring malicious gossip and the mouths into the open. Challenge them in the presence of the subject, with witnesses, if possible. Remember: Those who slander others to you, will slander you to others.

Support any African person who comes under attack by the state, regardless what they say he or she had done. Remember, their terrorist is our freedom fighter.

Above all focus on the key objectives of your organisation, concentrate on doing the work that will achieve those objectives and not be diverted into chasing ghosts and shadows.

Finally, do not co-operate or encourage co-operation with national or local government schemes which are designed to disempower the community, such as informing the authorities or the police about happenings in the neighbourhood or surrendering weapons which are outside the control of the local gangsters and their uniformed counterparts.

I don't know whether Brother Omali has changed his position at all but he recognises today, that there are problems of due diligence which are very difficult to overcome. "One of the things certain agents do in organisations, they'll jump to the front of the line and say: 'I'll do that, I'll take that on.' And then by not doing it, sabotages the organisation. It should happen only so often, but if you have an organisation that is liberal where people won't criticise folk who don't carry out their responsibilities, they would have a tendency to cover it up. ... they cover up for people who might be either making errors or could actually be the police in the organisation."

My position has altered somewhat over the years. I still say kill them, but not immediately. I now feel that the traitor (and her or his beneficiaries) should first be stripped of all material and social value, given an opportunity to make amends for some of the incalculable negative effects of her or his behaviour, then clinically assessed to determine whether he or she is a candidate for re-education or extermination.

Global Europe have learnt a great deal from our shared history. We need to do the same. We need to explore the idea of organised disorganisation. Instead of waiting for or trying to produce a messianic leader, we need to agree on an objective and let everyone go off and do what ever they can towards fulfilling that objective. Each person then has the obligation to assist every other, where ever possible, in whatever he of she may be doing towards achieving our declared objective because it is individually and collectively, their absolute responsibility to fulfil. The only way to prevent that objective from being fulfilled then, is to kill every single one of the people committed to it. Instead of trying to build a coalition of militant organisations, I suggest we build a nation of militant individuals.

Finally a word of advice to the Fruit Takers. There are two kinds of community activist: the Tree Shakers and Fruit Takers. The Tree Shakers are the revolutionaries, the ones some call troublemakers. The Fruit Takers are the ones who step forward to represent you, to reap the benefits as the oppressors are forced by the actions of the Shakers, to make concessionary reforms. My message to the Takers is: they need to be more appreciative and protective of Tree Shakers and stop acting like wind-up toys because there would be no fruits for them to take if not for the Tree Shakers. Thank you.
